DESCRIPTION
Matte Bento in West Village, Manhattan New York City, is a small Japanese restaurant specialized in takeout and delivery Bento style. The interior design and renovation adapt the kitchen, serving and sitting area to the existing conditions with a minimum budget.
It is designed to have minimum interventions and maximum identity. The exterior facade was designed as a simple black storefront, to give a Japanese identity to a French-style storefront neighborhood. The interior is light and creamy colors and natural wood tones create a cozy and calmed environment. The main iconic elements are the walls, which feature a Bisco Smith mural bringing the strong street art culture of New York City to the identity.
