ART MARKET IN LONDON BRIDGE | UNIVERSITY OF SEVILLE FINAL GRADUATION PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

The project understands the City of London as one of the great contemporary metropolises, a city with a past marked by industrial sprawl. The project is located next to Borough Market, the oldest market of London, where all events are produced under the subway viaducts, where programs overlap, a city made up of sequential layers of history.

It is the only free plot in the south side of the city, that is why the proposal works under sustainable principles by creating public spaces on several levels, so that the entire site area will become public space in different levels. It is designed to be changing, mutating over time and social needs, a place in continuous re-configuration.

The upper level of the market offers accommodation for young artists. The stairs go through the market, such as a fissure of light, so the light is transmitted into the market during the day and is transmitted into the “high street” during the night trying to reduce consumption and the use of natural resources.
